Earthstone began in 1993 as an effort to reduce strip mining in New Mexico. The mountains there are rich in pumice, an abrasive used in household scrubbing and sanding products. Andrew Ungerleider developed a proprietary method for recycling glass into a super fine, powdery substance that became the basis for Earthstone's environmental products.
