Product details

The Unicel C-8610 is a 100 square foot replacement filter cartridge for the Hayward Star-Clear II C-1100. It goes in place of the Hayward OEM element CX1100RE and carries the same open top, open bottom construction with 4-1/16 inch inside diameters at both ends.

Sizing and cross references

The element measures 8-1/2 inches across the outside. The source data lists the length two ways, 22-3/8 inches in the specification table and 23-3/8 inches in the product detail, so measure your old cartridge if you need certainty before ordering. Getting the life out of it

Cartridges last longest when they are rinsed properly, soaked when the oils build up, and given time to dry before going back in. Replace rather than clean once the pleats are matted or torn, once the end caps have pulled away, or once a clean cartridge no longer brings the filter pressure back to where it started the season.

Which filter does this fit?
The Hayward Star-Clear II C-1100. It goes in as the replacement for the OEM cartridge CX1100RE.
How long is the cartridge?
The source data gives two figures, 22-3/8 inches in the attribute list and 23-3/8 inches in the product detail. Measure the cartridge you are replacing before ordering if the fit is tight.
What do PA100 and FC-1290 mean?
They are the equivalent part numbers from Pleatco and Filbur for the same element. If your old cartridge carries one of those numbers, this is the Unicel equivalent.
When should a cartridge be replaced rather than cleaned?
When cleaning no longer brings the pressure back down, or when the pleats are matted, torn or the end caps have separated. Cleaning buys time, it does not restore a collapsed element.
