  • Replaces a cracked or crossed union Once the threads are stripped or the collar is split, the union will not hold pressure again.
  • Two part numbers in circulation Cataloged as 0602-20 and also listed as 0602-20-2, so either number should find the same union.

Product details

The Magic Plastics 0602-20 is a two inch pump union assembly, cataloged for Waterway Executive 48 frame and 56 frame pumps. It is supplied as a complete assembly.

What a union does for you

The union is the reason a pump can be removed in ten minutes instead of an afternoon. Break the two collars and the pump lifts out, leaving the suction and return plumbing intact. Cut that same pipe instead and every future seal change, impeller clean or motor swap starts with a plumbing repair.

When it needs replacing

Plastic unions fail in predictable ways. The collar cracks from being pulled up too hard, the threads cross when the nut is started at an angle, or the sealing face gets scored and will no longer hold against a worn o-ring. None of those come back with more torque. Note that this union appears in the catalog under two numbers, 0602-20 and 0602-20-2, which refer to the same two inch assembly.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which pumps does this union suit?
It is listed for Waterway Executive 48 frame and 56 frame pumps. It is a standard two inch pump union, so check it against the union already on your pump.
Is the part number 0602-20 or 0602-20-2?
Both numbers appear in the catalog for this union. The base number is 0602-20 and it is also listed as 0602-20-2. Either should bring up the same two inch assembly.
What comes in the assembly?
It is supplied as a union assembly rather than as a single loose piece, so the mating halves are matched to each other.
Why replace a union instead of just tightening it?
A union that has been cross threaded, split at the collar or had its sealing face damaged will not seal again no matter how hard it is pulled up, and overtightening a plastic union is how the collar cracks in the first place.
