What a collar union does
The collar is the threaded ring that clamps the two halves of a union together over a seal. It is what lets a pump or a valve be taken out of the plumbing without cutting pipe, and it is usually the first thing to fail on an otherwise sound line, because it is exposed, it takes the tightening load and it sits in the sun.
Ordering
Union parts are not generic. The size, thread form and seal groove all have to match, so quote U11-200PS rather than measuring an old collar with a tape. If the union has been leaking rather than cracked, replace the o-ring at the same time and lubricate the new seal before assembly.
