Product details

The Raypak Crosswind V 6550 is a 118,000 BTU electric heat pump for inground pools. It pulls heat from the outside air and moves it into the pool water through a titanium heat exchanger, which shrugs off the chlorine and salt levels that shorten the life of lesser exchangers. Running on 208-230V single phase power, it draws 5.4 kW and uses R-410A refrigerant.

Built for the equipment pad

The cabinet has a smaller footprint than older Raypak heat pumps and weighs 268 lb, so it fits a standard pad without a rebuild. Water connections are the industry standard 2 in. size and sit behind the front panel, so a tech can reach the plumbing for service without dragging the unit away from the wall.

Controls you can read

A capacitive touch panel replaces the old membrane buttons. It shows easy to read diagnostics and real time status, so you know at a glance whether the unit is heating, idle or waiting on flow. Lower energy use than the units it replaces helps keep the monthly bill in check while the pool stays warm.

This unit ships by freight because of its weight. Have the pad, the 2 in. plumbing and the electrical circuit ready before it arrives.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What power does it need?
208-230VAC single phase at 60 Hz, drawing 5.4 kW. It is not a 115V unit, so plan on a dedicated circuit sized by an electrician.
What size pool will it heat?
It is rated at 118,000 BTU, one of the larger residential sizes. The right size depends on surface area, target temperature, wind and climate, so match the rating to a heat loss estimate for your pool or ask us before ordering.
What plumbing does it connect to?
Standard 2 in. water connections, reached through the front panel so the unit can be serviced without pulling it off the pad.
How does it ship?
At 268 lb it goes by freight carrier rather than parcel. Plan for someone to be on hand to receive it.
