Product details

The S.R. Smith LTDF-101 is the Econoline replacement tread for pool ladders, molded in heavy duty plastic and recommended for residential ladders. It measures 3 in. deep by 18-5/16 in. wide, with a 17-1/4 in. centerline mounting distance, and is sold under the 19 in. Econoline size.

Measure before you order

Ladder treads look interchangeable and are not. The number that matters is the centerline mounting distance, the span between the points where the tread bolts to the rails. Measure that on the tread you are taking off and compare it to the 17-1/4 in. figure here. Depth and width should be checked as well, but a tread that does not line up at the mounting points will not go on at all.

Why not to put it off

Treads take the whole load of someone climbing out of a pool with wet hands and wet feet, and plastic that has sat in sun and chlorine for years goes brittle before it looks bad. A tread that flexes underfoot, has hairline cracks around the bolt holes, or has lost its texture is the one part of a ladder worth replacing at the first sign rather than the last.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How do I know it will fit my ladder?
Measure the centerline distance between the mounting points on your existing tread. This one is 17-1/4 in. If that matches, check the 3 in. depth and 18-5/16 in. width as well.
Why is it called a 19 in. tread when the width is 18-5/16 in.?
The 19 in. figure is the Econoline size designation. The measured width of the tread is 18-5/16 in.
Can I use it on a commercial ladder?
It is recommended for residential ladders. Commercial installations have their own requirements, so check those before fitting.
Do the bolts come with it?
The listing is the tread. Reuse the existing hardware if it is sound, and replace any bolt that is corroded or bent while you have the ladder apart.
