Product details
Taylor R-0011L-A is the calcium indicator liquid, supplied in the standard .75 oz dropper bottle. It is the genuine Taylor reagent, the same one packed with their test kits.
What it is for
The indicator is what gives the calcium test its color change, the signal you titrate against to read hardness. Used with the matching buffer and titrant, it produces the calcium hardness number that decides whether your water is going to scale up a heater or eat at plaster.
Keep it fresh
Taylor recommends replacing reagents every year. Reagents age whether the bottle is full or not, and an old indicator gives a soft or late color change that reads as a hardness number you can be quite confident about and quite wrong about. Dating the bottle when you open it makes that easy to keep track of.
