Product details

This is the PoolTux 1 ft by 8 ft double water tube in 20 gauge vinyl. Water tubes sit on the coping and hold an in-ground winter cover down through the closed season.

Why a dual chamber tube

A single chamber tube is one puncture away from being useless. This tube is split into two chambers, so a leak in one leaves the other still full and the cover still weighted while you get a replacement. Over a long winter with ice, wind and animals on the cover, that redundancy is the whole point.

Filling and storing

Fill to roughly three quarters, never to the cap. The water inside will freeze and expand, and a tube filled solid is the one that bursts at the seam. In spring, drain the tubes completely, dry them and store them out of the sun so the vinyl does not go brittle before next season.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What does double or dual chamber mean?
The tube has two separate water chambers rather than one. If one chamber is punctured the other still holds water, so the tube keeps some weight on the cover instead of failing outright.
How long is it?
8 feet, and 1 foot across.
What is 20 gauge?
It is the thickness of the vinyl. A heavier gauge stands up better to being dragged across coping and to a winter of freeze and thaw.
Should I fill it right to the top?
No. Leave roughly a quarter of the tube empty. Water expands as it freezes, and a tube filled to the cap is the one that splits over winter.
