Product details

This is the PoolTux 1' x 8' double chamber water tube, made in 16 gauge blue vinyl, for use with inground pool winter covers.

How water tubes work

A winter cover on an inground pool is held down by weight around the perimeter. The tubes are filled with water on site and laid either through the cover straps or along the top of the cover edge. Their weight is what keeps the cover from shifting, lifting in the wind or letting leaves and dirt work their way underneath.

Why the double chamber matters

A plain round tube rolls. Wind gets under the cover, the tube turns, and by January it has walked away from the edge it was holding down. This tube is built as two chambers side by side, which gives it a flat stance that will not roll, and that matters most in exposed yards and on sloped decks.

Filling them

Do not fill to the top. Water expands as it freezes, and a tube filled solid is a tube that splits before spring. Leave some air, and the same tubes come back out year after year.

How do I use these on the cover?
Fill the tubes with water, then lay them through the cover straps or along the top of the cover edge so their weight holds the cover to the deck.
What does double chamber mean, and why does it matter?
The tube is split into two chambers running side by side rather than one round tube. A single chamber tube rolls when the wind gets under the cover or when the deck slopes. The double design will not roll, so the cover stays put.
Should I fill them right to the top?
No. Leave room for the water to expand when it freezes, otherwise the tube splits over the winter. Filling most of the way is the usual practice.
