Taylor R-0871 is the FAS-DPD titrating reagent, supplied here in the 16 ounce refill bottle as part number R-0871-E. It is the genuine Taylor solution, not a repackaged substitute.

What it is used for

The FAS-DPD test reads chlorine by titration rather than by color matching. You add the titrant a drop at a time and count drops until the sample changes, which is what makes the result precise enough to separate free chlorine from combined chlorine. This bottle is that titrant.
