Product details
This is the Taylor cyanuric acid reagent, part number R-0013-G, in a one gallon bottle. It is the same reagent found in the small dropper bottles, packaged in the bulk size that service companies and commercial pool operators go through.
What the test tells you
Cyanuric acid is the stabilizer that shields free chlorine from being burned off by sunlight. Too little and chlorine disappears on a sunny afternoon. Too much and the chlorine that is present becomes sluggish. Neither problem shows up on a chlorine reading alone, which is why the stabilizer test earns its place in the routine.
Using the gallon
Refill your working dropper bottle from the gallon and keep the rest closed and out of the sun. Confirm your kit calls for R-0013 before you order, since Taylor reagents are numbered and are not interchangeable.
