Product details

This is the Taylor cyanuric acid reagent, part number R-0013-G, in a one gallon bottle. It is the same reagent found in the small dropper bottles, packaged in the bulk size that service companies and commercial pool operators go through.

What the test tells you

Cyanuric acid is the stabilizer that shields free chlorine from being burned off by sunlight. Too little and chlorine disappears on a sunny afternoon. Too much and the chlorine that is present becomes sluggish. Neither problem shows up on a chlorine reading alone, which is why the stabilizer test earns its place in the routine.

Using the gallon

Refill your working dropper bottle from the gallon and keep the rest closed and out of the sun. Confirm your kit calls for R-0013 before you order, since Taylor reagents are numbered and are not interchangeable.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What does this reagent test for?
Cyanuric acid, the stabilizer that protects free chlorine from sunlight. It is the reagent used in the cyanuric acid step of a Taylor test.
Is this a complete test kit?
No. It is a reagent refill only. You need the kit or the comparator tube it goes with.
Will it work with my Taylor kit?
Check the reagent list on your kit or in its instructions. If that list calls for R-0013, this gallon is the bulk version of it.
Why buy a gallon?
Volume. A gallon is aimed at service companies and commercial operators who run stabilizer tests constantly and would otherwise reorder small bottles all season.
