Pool Season Pool Renew is a highly concentrated enzyme water cleaner, supplied in a one quart bottle.
What enzymes do
Pool water carries an organic load that has nothing to do with algae: body oils, lotion, pollen and the residue that collects at the waterline. Chlorine will deal with it, but every bit of chlorine spent that way is chlorine not available for sanitizing. An enzyme treatment works on that organic load directly, which is why it reads as a natural clarifier rather than as a sanitizer.
Opening and closing
The formula is described as an effective addition to a pool opening or closing treatment. Those are the two points in the season when organic load is heaviest, either after a winter under a cover or heading into one.

This is a treatment, not a substitute for chlorine. It works with the sanitizer already in the water.
