This is a pH Up balancer for swimming pools and spas, built on sodium carbonate, supplied as three 1 lb bottles for a 3 lb total.
What it corrects
pH drifts, and on most pools it drifts down. Water sitting below range is uncomfortable to swim in and slowly works on the surfaces and metal it touches. Sodium carbonate is the standard chemistry for pulling that reading back up.
Working with three bottles
Shipping the 3 lb as three separate 1 lb bottles has a practical advantage: you open one at a time and the other two stay sealed against humidity, which is what cakes a dry chemical in storage. Dose against a current test reading, let the water turn over, then test again before deciding whether more is needed.
